The overcast skies on Sunday felt quite nice in our household for a change. This week we'll learn about the structure of a story including the characters, setting and plot. In math, we're embarking on multi-digit division. Our second lesson in the latest science chapter we'll focus on types of air masses as we continue to deepen our understanding of weather. For social studies, we'll get personal with a double time line as we map our personal events against those of history.
Math facts are a MUST! We've hit multi-digit division and math facts are just as important for division. If your child hasn't obtained mastery of their facts, PLEASE work on three new facts each week for 5-10 minutes every day. It is extremely difficult for children to master new concepts without these building blocks in place.
Many student are closing in on their Accelerated Reader goal but a number have yet to log any points. As we discussed at "Back to School Night", AR is not an instructional tool but it does allow one method to track student's basic comprehension and regular reading. I post updated results at the end of every Friday for viewing the next week.
For students who are not in my math class, I will be sending userids and passwords to access the math textbook and science textbooks in this week's white envelope. Please look for that information.
Walk-a-Thon is around the corner!! I hope that everyone can make some time to enjoy this fun-filled, community event.
