Lights out...

Our young charges are all tucked in and everything was quiet well before 10 pm.  In fact, one of the girls' cabins was asleep before 9:30.    Mrs. O'Loughlin and Mrs. McLean patrolled the Treetops cabin where the boys are staying, while Mrs. Borges and I did duty in the 49ers site with the girls.  The day has been jam packed and everyone is ready for some sleep...including the teachers who aren't too far behind the students.

Following lunch, field groups headed off on river studies, nature hikes and other fun.  Dinner was a ravenous event of lasagna, fresh baked bread, grilled zucchini, and delicious salad with tomatoes fresh from the garden, topped off with freshly baked brownies.   Our students with special dietary requirements had choices of a vegetarian lasagne or gluten free pasta.

After dinner I joined a few girls' cabins in a lively game of gaga ball.   It's such a great game. We've been talking for years about how wonderful it would be to have a gaga pit at Los Alamitos.  Maybe this is the year to make good on that thought!

The fiesta capped off the fun.  We played games and danced under the lights.  The evening finished with skits and songs around the fire.

Your children are incredibly well-cared for here.  Those of us who are veterans at Camp Campbell commented today that the staff and facility improve every year.  We are delighted to reconnect with familiar faces and meet a number of the new young people who have joined the team.

Tomorrow brings new adventures, discoveries and fun.  G'night!

  1. Thank you so very much Mrs. Ananmalay! Love the pics and so glad to hear how the kids spent their first day at camp. I think now the parents can go to sleep :)
