It's a little overcast, but no sprinkles like yesterday. The air is crisp and the sounds of life are permeating the Camp. It's off to breakfast....
They were lively this morning! No reports of significant issues so far. Camp air makes a person hungry and every child found something to fill his/her stomach: scrambled eggs, sausages (meat & veggie), oatmeal with cranberries & brown sugar, cereal & milk.
Thad, the resident EMT & health aide, dispensed morning medication with his usual efficiency. After the tables were cleared and wiped, the dishes were scrapped into compost or landfill, and the "super table" was awarded, the kids headed down to campfire for some morning music.
I am "Teacher of the Day" which means I'll be the point person for Camp Staff for any concerns with students. My three colleagues and the staff from the German International School (a terrific cadre of fellow educators) will spread out, checking on field studies, joining hikes, following children into the Nature Lab and generally partaking in learning alongside their students.
The sun is now shining warmly through the redwood trees. The morning chill is dissipating, and the quiet that started the morning has been replaced by a chorus of happy voices.
